Artist for The Grand Bauble Hunt!
I was delighted when I heard that I had been selected as one of the lead artists for The Grand Bauble Hunt Pantomime Trail at the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, Romsey, Hampshire.
Over the past couple of months, I have been running workshops to create the artwork for the Grand Bauble Hunt, as well as installing the work at the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens. The trail consists of 10
temporary installations, of which I have been lead artist on 4. They create an interactive, exciting trail that leads through a section of the Hillier Gardens. in Romsey, Southampton The Christmas Tree dressings were on the theme of 'Cinerella' to promote the Christmas Pantomime showing at the Mayflower Theatre this winter. Each of the 10 school sand community groups that took part created artwork for the key parts of the fairy-tale. Children and adults that embark on the trail can collect a bauble (or glittery fur cone) at each station and these can be swapped for a prize at the end of the trail!
Leading art workshops for The Grand Bauble Hunt was great fun! School children, aged between 5 and 14 years, enjoyed activities such as mosaicing Cinderella's carriage using gold tiles, painting mice, mosaicing the Prince and Cinderella's outfits, cutting out and decorating clay hearts, threading beads to hang in the trees and painting wooden cut-outs! Every child who took part in the workshops also designed a painted a wooden star to line the trail and lead the way through the gardens!
Take a look at the photos below for a taster of what went on in the art workshops or click on the link to view my workshop gallery.
The trail is open from Saturday 13th December 2014 - Sunday 4th January 2015. Keep a look out on my Facebook Page and Website for photos of the trail once it has been unveiled on Saturday!
I have decided to start a blog for several reasons. To help me remember all the things that inspire me, to share these with others and to keep a record of everything that I am doing. I will update my blog regularly. Feel free to share and comment on posts!
