Rachel Evans Mosaics - January
This month I have been into Highfield Infant School, Southampton to complete three days of mosaic workshops with the whole of the infant department. The children worked with me in small groups from year 2, right the way down to year R. The children absolutely loved laying the tiles, especially using the iridescent tiles! Most of the animals are now mosaicked and the children have completed the backgrounds. I have spent most of my time in the studio this month finishing the animal mosaics. They have taken longer than I expected because the school asked for them to look exactly like the printed images. This has meant using quite small pieces, to follow the design accurately. I have been mosaicing onto fibreglass mesh, which is a new technique for me, but I am thoroughly enjoying it. It is so easy to use!
I have decided to start a blog for several reasons. To help me remember all the things that inspire me, to share these with others and to keep a record of everything that I am doing. I will update my blog regularly. Feel free to share and comment on posts!
