Rachel Evans Mosaics - February
This month has been a busy one! I have had a number of mosaics framed for my exhibition at the Rum's Eg and am really pleased with the clean, professional results!
I have also continued to finish the mosaic for Highfield Infant School. All the mosaics are now complete and grouted. Adhering them to the wood was fairly tricky because they were so big! Next time, I might cut them into sections to adhere more easily. I have also painted and varnished the backs of the mosaics to ensure they are weather proof. This took a lot longer than expected too but I am pleased with how professional they look!
On the 26th February, the mosaics were installed and the school were so impressed they decided to have them put on the front of the school building instead of the junior playground, so that more people can admire them! I was so pleased to hear this, as it proves they must have been very happy with their commission!
Also this month, I have made two tiny dragons, as a commission for two little dragon enthusiasts...
Installed a new shelving unit for all my tiles...
...and made another flower pot on commission....
As well as this, I have been into Christ the King School in Reading to deliver a day of workshops as part of their 'Artists' topic. I worked with year 1 and 2 children, who thoroughly enjoyed planning and creating their very own mosaic coasters!
I have decided to start a blog for several reasons. To help me remember all the things that inspire me, to share these with others and to keep a record of everything that I am doing. I will update my blog regularly. Feel free to share and comment on posts!
